Why should you switch to natural skincare and why did I ?

The short answer is  “because I believe in natural ingredients  in the same way as I believe in natural foods”.
I know there are still many people out there who don’t consider what they put on their skin or how many products they use during the day, on the other hand there is an increasing number of people who care about what they eat, whether the product is tested on animals or what goes into their blood stream when skincare product is absorbed within few seconds.
These days there is a wide selection of natural skincare products and we have access to many information which can help us to make better & environmentally friendly  decisions, I want to share with you what I use and perhaps give you an answer why it is worth going “natural” and help you on your journey to healthy and beautiful body.
I have changed all my personal care products over the last few years from a deodorant to mouth wash and now I even make my own washing powder, I might tell you about that later.

  • Deodorants

Let’s start with the deodorant, in simple words you are meant to sweat, it is body’s natural way of releasing  toxins, so if you block your pores with a “regular” deodorant or antiperspirant your body is not able to do this. When you exercise you  shouldn’t be wearing antiperspirant, clean cotton t-shirt and shower after your session is enoughJ

Many conventional deodorants  contain hormone disrupting chemicals such as triclosan, parabens, propylene glycol, formaldehyde, aluminum chloralhydrate, aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex or synthetic perfumes, many of these are often linked to breast cancer.

My favourite and most natural so far is Salt of the Earth,  you can find it in most health stores or online.

  • Toothpaste

Have you ever noticed that toothpaste is kind of sweet? Yes it contains artificial sweeteners which are worse than sugar !

When you are out buying your tootpaste next time see if it has any of these: triclosan, phthalates,  sodium lauryl sulfate, artificial sweeteners and colours (CI), fluoride, propylene glycol, or diethanolamine.

I have stopped buying regular toothpaste about 4 years ago and currently I use Jason (toothpaste and mouthwash) &  Biomed toothpaste.

  • Shampoos & Shower Gels

My favourite  natural shampoos and shower gels are from Urtekram also available on Amazon, if you are still looking for the right one look no more!

Skincare Products for Face & Body

You could probably guess that I only use  Lavande Skincare when it comes to face care.

I am proud that all the face creams in our range are Paraben & SLS free, made with natural cold pressed oils and Organic essential oils,  all the products  are vegan & cruelty free because there is no need to test on animals, plus they small heavenly as a bonus!

My absolute favourites are (they all are though!) hydrating Lemongrass and Witchhazel face cream for the day, Frankincense facial oil for night time nourishment & Jasmine and Bergamot Body Oil, whenever I travel they are always in my suitcase!

PS: if you are running out of your face cream right now you can order Lavande Skincare from Amazon Prime for next day delivery!

Ingredients to avoid

Please see the page with ingredients to avoid here.

You would have thought that these chemical ingredients have been proven safe & effective, but it is not necessarily the case, as long as they don’t create immediate allergic reaction, cosmetic companies are not required to prove they are safe for the long term use!

Even if the products contain small amount of these chemicals if you are using such products daily and for many years surely it must affect your body.

I have come across many expensive skincare products which had a long list of fancy active ingredients which they used as their selling point, but the list of chemicals for “product feeling” enhancement was even longer, obviously they won’t tell you about these.

Please don’t be fooled by pretty jars or bottles and read the ingredients like you would when you do your grocery shopping!

Lots of love,
